通过遗传学和分子生物学的手段研究植物种内和种间的生殖障碍，阐明其分子机理，为作物杂交育种和制种提供理论基础和新方法；与此同时，通过比较多种生殖障碍，尝试理解生殖障碍积累、生殖隔离与物种形成的进化历程。

Via genetics and molecular biology tools, we are aiming to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of intra- and interspecific reproductive barriers in plants, then providing theoretical basis and new methods for crop outcross-breeding and seed production; meanwhile, by comparing multiple kinds of reproductive barriers, we are trying to understand the evolutionary process of accumulation of reproductive barriers, formation of reproductive isolation and speciation.
